“Whenever I paint, it’s as though a wet, rainbow-colored fairy is sitting on my fingertips.”

Her sculpting, oils and watercolors have had showings at the Santa Monica Art Institute.  Gallery 8 has recently showcased her watercolors. She has studied oil painting with Jennie Tomao. She is a graduate of the High School for the Performing Arts (New York) and The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (London).

She has been an artist all her life: acting, singing, dancing, directing and choreographing. She’s been seen in the films, “West Side Story,” “Seems Like Old Times,” “Blood Brothers” and Mel Brooks’s “Silent Movie.” On TV she’s been Mary Tyler Moore’s neighbor, Edward Woodward’s muse in “The Equalizer” and Carroll O’Connor’s girlfriend in “Archie Bunker’s Place.” As a stand-up comic, she’s been on variety shows including Ed Sullivan and Johnny Carson. Yvonne’s performed on Broadway and stages around the world including over 1,500 performances as Anita in “West Side Story,” for which she did commenting on the 50th Anniversary Blu-ray disc. She’s probably most recognized as the Olsen Twins’ grandmother in “Full House.”

She is a first-generation Puerto Rican-Cuban from New York City.
